We have decided in the Lockhart house that 2009 is going to be a new start. We want a different focus and we want to stick with it and not let that mindset fizzle out by the end of January. We want to spend more time focused on God, more time together as a family, and more time serving and investing in people. We want to spend less money and stop building up our treasures on this earth, watch less tv (in fact we are not watching any for 40 days right now), and less time focusing on what we want and more on what God wants. God has really used the first 24 days of January to change our hearts and we already feel a big difference in our lives. Heath and I are doing a bible study together called "A Call to Die" by David Nassar about dying to our selfish desires and saying yes to God. It calls for you to fast from something that you feel stands between you and spending more time with the Lord. We gave up tv because it was where we turned when we wanted to relax and escape from life. That's what God wants us to do with Him. Feast on Him and He will give you rest. It was difficult at first but now we don't really desire to have it back in our lives. We spend more time together. We play games, enjoy the outdoors, have conversations around the dinner table, spend hours feasting on God's word and talking about it. His voice has become clearer and our hearts have become fuller. We are amazed everyday about what God is telling us, whether it is sin in our lives or idols we need to replace with Him or giving us a peace that He will provide. He IS strength and peace. He IS a provider. He IS love. He IS the calm in the middle of a storm. He IS our Heavenly Father. He IS all that we need. We are excited about what God has for us this year and what changes we will be reflecting on come the close of 2009.
I have posted some pictures of the kids and some cute videos for your viewing pleasre!

Caleb had been wanting some roller skates for a while and we found these great rollerblades at Goodwill for only $3! It took a little while and some confidence but he has gotten quite good on them. There is some video of him further down. This is the two of them being silly for Grammy and Grampa.

Elizabeth loves hide and seek and is quite good at it. She will hide for as long as she needs and not make a peep. This was one of her latest spots!

We have these figurines we found one Christmas for the kids. They are bible characters from all the stories of the bible and each set comes with the accompanying story. We also have a set of wild animals that Caleb played with when he was little. Elizabeth pulled them all out one day and set them up. I came into her room and she told me that they were all visiting baby Jesus. In the middle of that crowd of animals and people is Jesus in the manger! I love the pure hearts of children!

As I said earlier we have been playing a lot more games and we gave the kids Twister for Christmas. They have really been having a lot of fun! We also enjoy Sorry!, Trouble, Chutes and Ladders, Go Fish, and playing on the Wii.
If your kids are having trouble getting along, just put some boxing gloves on them and let them go at it!
Here is the video of Caleb getting the hang of his rollerblades.
One day I was in the kitchen making lunch for Elizabeth and I heard her saying something. After I listened a little closer I realized she was saying the Pledge of Allegiance. I couldn't believe it! I just had to catch it on camera!
