Happy Valentine's Day!

As I am posting this I keep reminding myself that today is Valentine's Day but we celebrated it with the kids yesterday so I don't feel like it is today. Yesterday was a busy day starting out with taking Elizabeth to the flower shop to get something for Caleb's teacher. She went crazy over all the flowers and teddy bears and wanted some for herself. I had told Heath about a week ago that I thought it would be sweet if he gave her some flowers for Valentine's Day. When we were at the flower shop she found some carnations and desperately wanted some because they were so pretty. I already knew Heath was going to give her some so I had to convince her that other people give you flowers. She was so worried that the "other people" wouldn't know what she wanted and I assured her I would let the "other person" know. I made sure I told Heath to go by there on his way home to get her some flowers and her little face lit up when he got home.

After the flower shop, we went to Target so she could get a Valentine for Caleb. She knows that her birthday is around the corner so everything she sees she wants for her birthday. At one point she just took it upon herself and started sticking things in the basket! Well then she found this microphone that when you pressed the button it played a Hannah Montana song. She started walking up and down the aisle wailing into this thing. I would have done anything for a video because it was adorable. I had to settle for videoing her when she got home. She didn't dance around so it is not as good as what she did at the store but at least she sang! It is at the bottom of the post. She wanted that microphone so bad, I let her buy it with her own money. We picked out some legos for Caleb and Daddy's favorite candy and went home. I then had to rush up to Caleb's school for his Valentine's party and then took him with me to pick out something for Elizabeth. She had also fallen in love with a pretend blackberry Disney phone when we were there earlier so we got that for her.

The kids were going to Heath's moms for the night so I packed up what they needed and then we all exchanged Valentine's.

Caleb was excited about his Star Wars legos and we were excited that they enjoyed giving each other something they would both like. It wasn't anything big but it also wasn't candy. Elizabeth had a party at each day of school and then she had one at gymnastics, so she had 3 bags of candy already and Caleb had one from school that day.

She was thrilled when she saw that phone. He also got her a little flashlight that had discs you could put on the end and reflect images on the wall in the dark.

It really is a blessing to see your kids love each other especially when some days you think all they do is fight!

Ignore the red eyes! We had a great time together. The kids gave me the movie "Fireproof" and Heath gave me the latest John Grisham novel. He writes one every year and it comes out near my birthday so I have been collecting the hard cover editions for a while now. This year I got it earlier than my birthday so I am looking forward to reading it when I finish the book I am reading now.

We took the kids to Heath's mom's house for the night and Heath and I got to spend an enjoyable evening by ourselves. We went to eat, rented two movies, and then slept in this morning. We were talking at dinner about how some couples when their kids leave home as adults, don't know what to do because they don't know or like each other anymore. I told Heath that I have trouble imagining that. Granted our children are far from leaving the home, but I love spending time with just Heath and I look forward to the years when it is back to the two of us again (side note - that is just a comment. I am not trying to rush my kids to grow up!) He is truly my best friend and we have a great time being together laughing and talking. We each have our own hobbies yet we also have a lot of things that we enjoy doing together. We are blessed that God is in the middle of our relationship and that He has strengthened us through the years. We have had ups and downs and some very low downs, but they have made us realize how much we love each other and look forward to our life together!
