Caleb started gymnastics when he was 3. Apparently they saw something in him because at the end of that year he was moved up to the advanced boys group and has moved up with them each year. Now he goes two nights a week for two hours each night. He really enjoys it and after watching the Olympics last year, he decided that is what he wants to do. In his Friday night class they like to give trophies each week for Most Improved, Strongest, Sticking with it, etc. The first week he went, he received the trophy for Strongest and he got to take it home where he proceeded to dust it and shine it! Then he took it back the next week to be awarded to someone else. Two weeks ago he won a different one for Most Improved. It was pretty heavy so we took a picture of him being silly!

Last week I decided to bring our camera and get some action photos of what he is doing right now. On the 17th we will have his end of the year showcase so I will be able to get more and put them on here. Plus video of his floor routine where he really excels!
Below he is warming up. His weakness is his flexibility, but he is trying!

Here he is is pulling up and over the bar.

This is working on pommel horse.

Here they were going step-by-step through their floor routine. Caleb is very meticulous and focused about his floor routine and it really is good for a 7 year old. I can't wait to get the whole thing on video! He started in a straddle on the floor and brought it up.

He went from the previous straddle position into this headstand.

Here they had broken up into groups and he was to go into this handstand...

and then fall into this bridge.

We enjoy watching him improving and learning so much and we are thrilled that he loves it. Below are two videos I caught. It was hard because we can't enter the floor so they are from across the room. The first one he is practicing his round off and the second one he is working on his back-handspring.
Elizabeth will have her Mayfest this weekend for gymnastics so I will post those photos when I have them. She can't wait!
